We Are Hiring!

Greater Manchester COVID-19 Young Community Champions Project Coordinator

Job Description:

We are looking for someone to help recruit and work with 20, or more, young people (aged 16 – 30) to enable them to become Young Covid-19 Community Champions for Greater Manchester.

We envisage that this project will involve 20 days’ work, spread throughout January and February 2022 (2 or 3 days per week).

Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.

You will be responsible for helping to recruit at least 20 young people from different faith and backgrounds from across the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester.

You will help to plan and organise three workshops to upskill 20 young people in the Greater Manchester area and enable them to counter misinformation in the online space with regard to the Covid-19 virus, current variants and trends and vaccinations.

You will help identify and train young people largely from BAME communities, particularly from Muslim, Jewish and Black communities, and deprived areas where vaccine uptake is lowest.

The workshops will allow for discussions around community-specific issues related to COVID-19 and strategies around how best to tackle discourses based on false information.

Following these workshops, we will launch 10 social media campaigns in each of the Greater Manchester localities that will be posted on popular social media platforms such as Instagram and Tik-Tok in order to reach a large proportion of the young population.

You will work with one of our trustees and a social media trainer to deliver the training workshops.

You will follow up with the young people to ensure the key messages are delivered and that the social media campaigns happen.
