On 21st July our Men's Group went on a day trip to Chatsworth and Bakewell. This latest trip was a smaller gathering with two car loads of us meeting at Wythenshawe Forum to travel to Chatsworth, where we had a lovely break for coffee and look round and a sing song – one of our participants was a musician who has played with a number of bands, including Sad Café, who brought a guitar for the day.
We then went to Bakewell where we had a wander, a pit stop for a drink with a few songs thrown in for our group and the locals, another wander and then some food, followed by a last drink and sing song before returning to Manchester. We had some great interactions with other people at Chatsworth and Bakewell, including with a rambling group from Southport who had also ended their walk in Bakewell.
The overwhelming feedback was that the trip was really good, a great opportunity to men to talk about a whole range of matters affecting them with empathy, friendship and genuine concern for each other.
Our Women of Faith group will be having their second gathering during August, so watch out for details.
