We will be continuing our Faith Tours with an introduction into Christianity on Monday 12th August by visiting Manchester Cathedral and Cross Street Chapel.
We will start the tour at 11am at Manchester Cathedral, which is part of the Church of England. We will be getting a guided tour of the Cathedral followed by a Q&A with Revd Canon Grace Thomas in the cathedral library accompanied with light refreshments.
Revd Canon Grace Thomas, Canon Missioner is a priest as well as being part of the clergy team leading services. The Reverends role at the cathedral includes developing links and connections with local communities, the city and wider groups.
Revd Canon Grace Thomas is also the Diocesan Environment Officer for Manchester Diocese and works with churches across Greater Manchester in their ambition to be net carbon zero by 2030.
Following the tour of the Cathedral, we will then grab lunch on the way to Cross Street Chapel and have the option to eat in the concourse where drinks will be made available. The tour will begin at 1:30pm.
Cross Street Chapel is a Unitarian Church. During our visit we will be getting a guided tour of the Church, including a history of the church, its rituals, values and a short worship. The tour will be led by our very own Trustee Cody Coyne.
Cody was appointed minister at Cross Street Unitarian Chapel in 2015. In addition to his ministry, he serves on the executive of the Manchester District Association, the Unitarian Peace Fellowship, and the Faith Network for Manchester. He is also a participant in Manchester's "Challenging Hate Forum," an inter-faith and inter-civic group working to combat hate crime. He regularly works with Shelter and Christian Aid to contribute to vulnerable communities.
