Faith in the Arts: Collections and Storytelling– Exploring Personal and Collective Stories through Bibles and Non-Conformist Records

Following the success of our first two sessions, we are delighted to invite you to Session 3 on Thursday 14th August, 5pm-7pm in our engaging Faith in the Arts series exploring the rich and varied stories preserved in religious collections.

The "Collections and Storytelling" session, offers a unique opportunity to delve into the power of personal and collective narratives found within historic Bibles and records from the Methodist and Non-Conformist traditions.

Hosted by:

  • Tereza Ward – Curator of Christian Brethren printed and archive collections
  • Paul Carlyle – Curator of Non-Conformist printed and archive collections
  • Angela Petyt-Whittaker – Reader Services Assistant

Together, they will guide participants through a thought-provoking exploration of how faith-based collections preserve identity, shape memory, and communicate deeply personal and historical experiences. You will gain insight into the ways in which these materials bring history to life and reflect broader cultural and religious narratives.

Whether you are a researcher, student, or simply interested in history, religion, or storytelling, this session offers a welcoming space to reflect on how archives connect us to the past and to each other.

Feedback from previous sessions has been overwhelmingly positive, with attendees describing the content as “fascinating, accessible, and rich with insight”. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this growing conversation.

Book your place today and join us for this compelling session.
